using a Visual Thinking technique
Every facilitator hopes a group will leave seeing something differently.
The question is: How do we intentionally design for that?
Over the years I've noticed that many of the facilitation practices I return to—Visual Thinking Strategies, Visual Explorer, theatre rehearsal, collage, music, and others—share something deeper than their artistic origins. Each invites a particular way of paying attention. This session is an opportunity to explore that idea together.
Rather than focusing on a collection of activities, we'll experience one practice, step back to examine the design choices embedded within it, and consider a different question for our own work:
What kind of attention am I inviting?
Together we'll explore how paying closer attention to attention itself can influence the experiences we design, the questions we ask, and the choices we make as facilitators.
The Arts & Culture Circle serves as a forum and learning space for consultants working with arts and cultural organizations to discuss opportunities and challenges within that field.
The group strives to create a supportive space where all can share openly. This is a member-led group and its content and format may evolve as needed to better serve its members. The meetings are intended to share knowledge, build skills, and foster collaboration and community.
There is no charge to attend any of the Association's Circle meetings, but registration is always required. An email with the Zoom link will be sent the day before each Circle meeting.
